Welcome
Welcome to the web site of David Coyne.
As a keen amateur photographer this web site is intended to exhibit my
photographic work. The site is structured with a gallery page with
different subjects and pages with details of specific photographic
journeys. I have lived in Glenrothes, Fife for the most of the last 25 years.
Biography
I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne not knowing that I would take a deep
interest in photography. Maybe I should have realised my latent
interest after going on holiday to Amble, Northumberland when I was
around 9 years old and ran off to the local shop to spend my entire
weeks pocket money on a roll of film (I was sent to the shop to get my
money back!). I lived in Newcastle till I went to Liverpool University
to study Physics with Electronics and subsequently stayed on to
undertake a PhD in Solid State Electronics after achieving a 1st class
Honours.
I took up photography while at university with no special topic of
interest but for some reason packed my camera away for almost 20 years.
When working in Sweden several years ago I was determined not to get
into the rut of working 7 days a week so I dug out my trusty Minolta
303b and have never looked back since. I currently use a Minolta 800si and Minolta 7D
with a variety of lenses including a 70-210/2.8 zoom, 500/4.5 and, my favourite lens, a 105/2.8
macro lens and photograph pretty much any subject except "glamour" and people in
formal studio-style portraits.
Please feel free to look at my gallery of photographs from a wide-range of subjects from locations across Scotland such as Wild Water and Slalom Canoeing, Motocross, Wildlife and Landscapes
